How to take care of your Stonia® surfaces
Instructions on taking care
DAILY CARE
Clean your Stonia® items with a wet cloth or sponge. To remove regular stains, use soft household detergents. To keep your item in a perfect condition, clean the surface with a detersive or Scotch Brite sponge from time to time.
STUBBORN STAINS
To remove stubborn soiling, scratches or cigarette traces, clean the surface with a soft abrasive Scotch Brite sponge.
DAMAGE FROM HEATING
Unlike other materials, Stonia® is resistant to high temperatures. Nonetheless, you should avoid positioning hot pans (or other hot items) on your Stonia® surfaces to avoid damage. Do not expose (directly or indirectly) your Stonia® items to objects heated to 80°C or higher. To position hot objects on a Stonia® surface, use special mats.
CHEMICAL DAMAGE
Be sure to protect your Stonia® surface from aggressive chemicals, such as acetone or paint removal chemicals. In case of contact with harmful substances, clean the surface with water immediately. Please note that a continuous contact with strong chemicals may cause serious damage to the Stonia® surface.
HOW TO AVOID DAMAGE
  1. Do not cut things on the Stonia® surface. Be sure to use a special board.
  2. Never place hot pans on the Stonia® surface. Although Stonia® can bear high temperatures, continuous contact with heated objects or extreme temperatures may cause serious damage.
HOW TO REMOVE DAMAGE
  1. Aggressive chemicals are also contained in clog removing liquids. Be sure to wash down clog removers immediately. Some of those substances can cause discoloration which will be hard to remove.
  2. Light scratches can be removed by using grinding wheels. Start with a 120 grit, followed by a 220 grit and a 320 grit. Then treat the surface with a wet Scotch Brite sponge. *Important! For different polishing types (matt, semi-gloss, gloss), different grinding methods can be used.
  3. In case of deep scratches and/or other damage that needs professional attention, please contact your local Stonia® dealer or service center.
